Title:  MSTL Doodlebug GE-1, "Peoria" - Minneapolis & St Louis Rwy
Description:  Built by EMC (EMD predecessor) in 12/1929, this was one of the gas-electric locos that filled a gap in local ridership, much like interurban cars did. Named "Peoria", the doodlebug was a combination coach/baggage/express. This is a Robert Larson photo.

Description:  NP Ry Historical Assn. roster says B13 was dismantled in 4/62. She was a Coach-Baggage-RPO built by EMC (Electromotive Corporation, i.e., EMD before GM bouhgt it) in 1926. I puchased this slide years ago and it read 8/62 for the date.

Description:  NP B-20 at Saint Paul, Minnesota on an unknown day in November 1957, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number B-20 was built by Saint Louis Car Company (body) in 1929 (c/n 1512), powered by EMC with a Winton Model 146 gasoline engine rated at 300 horsepower (c/n 410). It was converted to diesel electric in March 1947 and retired in December 1961.

Description:  Minneapolis & Saint Louis Gas Electric GE-29 near Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 20, 1957, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. The location is somewhat speculative because the slide is marked MINN. Number GE-29 was built in 1931, body by Saint Louis Car Company (c/n 1550), the power plant was 400 horsepower EMC Winton Model 148 gasoline engine (c/n 491) coupled to GE electrical gear. I don't know who is responsible for the boxy structure on the roof but it's likely the cooling system for the prime mover. This unit went by the name 'Montgomery' (painted above the rear truck) and was repowered in August 1950 with a Caterpillar 400 horsepower Model D diesel.
